White Wine and Cheese Pairing

Here are a few “rules” for pairing white wine with cheese:

  1. Try to pair wines and cheeses from the same region.  A Gewürztraminer will pair nicely with a Muenster or Jarlsberg.
  2. Salty cheeses pair well with sweeter wines, such as a blue cheese with a sweeter Riesling.
  3. Acidity with acidity is also a good guideline to follow. The acidity in goat cheese gives it a tangy zip that matches perfectly with the crisp acidity of most Sauvignon Blancs.
