Pioneering Napa Winery Offers New Ways to Sip and Savor

(Napa, Calif.) – April 11, 2019 – As Trefethen Family Vineyards enters its sixth decade in the wine business, the estate winery continues to offer new ways for visitors and fans to experience Trefethen wines and the family’s stunning Oak Knoll District property, from late spring through harvest 2019.

LEGACY TASTINGS

The new by-appointment-only Legacy Tastings will be hosted by third generation Trefethen family member Lorenzo Trefethen and will showcase Trefethen’s smallest production wines alongside seasonal pairings from Winery Chef Chris Kennedy Aken.

Guests will be welcomed with a taste of Trefethen’s 2018 Dry Riesling and a walk through the recently restored historic winery which dates back to the 19thcentury. Next, guests will hop on the family’s eco-friendly cart for a tour of the vineyard, including a stop at Katie’s Acre, named after Lorenzo and Hailey’s grandmother and the source of the winery’s age-worthy Harmony Chardonnay. After the driving tour, Lorenzo will lead a seated tasting in the Villa, a former family home surrounded by gorgeous gardens. Guests will enjoy the inaugural 2016 vintage of The Cowgirl and The Pilot Merlot, a touching tribute to Lorenzo and Hailey’s parents, the winery’s founders. The 2014H?Lo, the family’s award-winning flagship Cabernet Sauvignon which is sourced entirely from theirHillspring vineyard follows next. The experience of these wines will be elevated by food pairings such asgougères of fresh goat cheese mousse with tarragon and toasted hazelnuts and A5 Wagyu beef “lollipops” with Trefethen bread sticks, wild arugula and black pepper crème.

Trefethen Family Vineyards will be hosting educational events this spring and at harvest time. Both the May 11B2B – Barrel to Bottle Lunch and the September 28 Harvest Boot Camp offer a terrific and fun opportunity to learn more about Trefethen’s estate grown wines, from the vine to the bottle.

B2B – Barrel To Bottle Tasting and Lunch

Join Trefethen’s winemaker Bryan Kays for an educational tasting focused on the blending process for their red wines including 2018 barrel samples of different Bordeaux varieties and some trial blends. After the seated tasting in the Villa, it is off to lunch under the arbor of the Villetta Patio where Winery Chef Chris Kennedy Aken will share delicacies from the winery’s estate garden and other delights paired with Trefethen wines.

Trefethen Harvest Boot Camp
10:00 AM to 3:00 PM Sat, Sep 28, 2019

Trefethen’s annual hands-on harvest experience begins in the morning with an in-depth vineyard tour and the opportunity to try your hand at picking grapes. Follow the freshly harvested grapes to the winery and learn about Trefethen’s winemaking practices as the grapes start the journey to becoming wine. Sample future vintages before they have even been bottled. Includes anal fresco lunch with Trefethen wines under the canopy of the ancient walnut tree in Katie’s Acre.
